From a farming background where ‘growing your own’ for the local show was a must, I have had a love of flowers since I was a young girl. My Grandad Woodley gave me my first bunch of sweet peas for my bedroom straight from his allotment, and that was it! I began ‘learning the ropes’ when I was 13 years old with a Saturday job at a local garden centre, being trained by an amazing floral designer. Since then I have used my flair for floral design to produce flowers for all occasions. I still enter local shows and national ‘NAFAS’ shows where I have won many prizes. It’s now time for me to realise my forever dream with my own florists, so here we are. Why Mad Hatter? Well, I have a love for everything ‘Alice in Wonderland’ – the story set in the countryside with a young girl’s imagination running wild seems very apt. All my floral creations are bespoke, using seasonal British grown flowers wherever possible.

Established in 1992, we have grown to become Vivid Floral Design… After being inspired by attending the local flower club with her Mum from the age of 9, Amanda went on to study at The Welsh College of Horticulture, which included an amazing placement in Jersey. On completing college Amanda’s parents helped her start up her business in an outbuilding on their farm and that is where Farmhouse Flowers was born, specialising in wedding and funeral flowers … In 2004 after a trip to a trade show Amanda was inspired to expand and open a shop to be able to provide flowers for all occasions and corporate clients, this resulted in the purchase of Greens N Things in Gresford, where business bloomed and continued to expand, it was in 2013 that we re-branded to Vivid Floral Design ready for the next stage as we had outgrown our premises… In 2014 after a year-long renovation we re-located just 2 miles away to 112 Chester Rd, Acton, Wrexham, to much larger premises and continued to grow. We are very proud to be the preferred supplier to many of the area’s premier hotels and event venues with events including Chester Races, Cholmondley Pageant of Power, Locomotive services (steam trains) to name a few and we have gained a reputation for excellence in proving floral services to the local business and corporate sectors, whilst also maintaining a personal service to our valued retail clientele. Every member of the Vivid team love what they do and have a real passion to provide the highest quality floral designs and first class customer service. We use only the highest quality blooms and also have a beautiful selection of giftware, some of which can be ordered online, but we still love to welcome you in store to view our full range of blooms, cards, balloons and giftware. Owned and operated by Florist Sophie who has worked as a florist for 18 years and holds the accredited ICSF floristry qualification. We are a contemporary, creative florist shop. Every design we create is bespoke and unique just like our customers, we pride ourselves on creating beautiful and creative designs with what’s best available form our wholesalers on the day your order is due to be delivered. Our shop is stocked daily with fresh flowers and plants, we always have something a little different to offer. We strive to give the best customer service possible! From your first contact with us to the creating and delivery of your design/event we will take upmost care to ensure your expectations are met. We create beautiful handtied designs wrapped in brown Kraft paper, tissue and tied with raffia ( we try to keep our designs as natural as possible without any unnecessary plastic – we even use old rose stems to attach gift cads to our designs). As well as handtied designs we also offer floral hat boxes which are created into bio degradable foam inside a Brown Kraft hat box which is hand stamped with our botanical logo. We create these in a more modern style compared to the traditional style hatbox and we also incorporate a few dried flowers to create a mix of textures. As well as gift flowers we also offer a wide range of floral tributes which we personally deliver to the local funeral directors within our area. All of our funeral designs are created bespoke to your requirements, we are here to advise and assist with choosing the perfect tribute.
